Another factor attributed to the increased amount of travelers is a thriving stock market that has boosted the net worth of wealthier Americans, who can more easily afford to fly for vacation, whether domestically or internationally. Others believe the economy is strong enough to give them renewed optimism and confidence to travel. Meanwhile, families with more disposable income may head to the beach or other vacation destinations.

To make your Memorial Day travel weekend more enjoyable, it’s simply a matter of “time”. In other words – plan your trip ahead of time. Give yourself plenty of time to get there, which means – leave early. If you’re flying out – get to the airport early. The crowds will be large and the waits could be long.

If you’re driving to your destination, make sure your vehicle is ready for a long trip – maintenance wise. Make sure you are as well by getting enough sleep before getting behind the wheel.
