Harmony Remote Now Controls Appliances in your Home
Logitech, the Swiss manufacturer of computer, television, and smart device accessories, has thoroughly permeated the homes of Americans everywhere, and without realizing it, you probably have a Logitech device somewhere in your house. It may be your webcam, your keyboard, your speakers, or any number of other devices within your house, and soon, the company may be playing an even bigger role in making our homes more accessible, convenient and secure. Could this affect your home insurance rates?
The Logitech Harmony series of remotes and keyboards has been well-reviewed and widely used for some time now. They feature touch screens, buttons, and optional keyboard add-ons to make your home life more integrated with your technological preferences, but until now, they were used primarily for televisions. Now, with the introduction of the Harmony Living Home remote controls, you’ll be able to control a wide range of home appliances with one universal system that can get you ready for your day with just a few button presses or taps on the touch screen.
While these remotes are, in a way, a simple refresh of existing devices, the ability to control your entire home is more than a simple upgrade. It opens up dozens of possibilities to those industrious enough to integrate the technology well. With the launch of this new line, the technology is now getting more exposure than it originally attracted, hopefully allowing the company to further develop this emerging concept of whole-home control.
The Harmony Ultimate Home comes in two colors, black and white, and will cost a suggested retail price of $350, and the basic Harmony Home Control system will set you back $150, $20 more than its similar (but not identical) predecessor. These devices are designed to “harmonize” the various devices and applications that you use in your day-to-day life, and products that support this technology range from electronic locks to smart TVs and more. The devices are available now and ship with the Harmony Home Hub, a central point of connectivity to allow your various systems to communicate.
With all these incredible emerging technologies making your home more convenient, it’s as good a time as any to invest in or reevaluate your homeowner’s insurance policy. Home insurance is an essential safeguard for a home full of valuable objects in the event that the worst should happen. If you need a home insurance quote to explore the possibility of protecting your home from disaster, you can get in touch with your current insurance provider to schedule an assessment and estimate the cost of insuring your home.
