A Strong Sense of Community

Residents of Alameda enjoy a strong sense of belonging to a close-knit community. With its warm weather, natural beauty and access to a wide variety of cultural activities, Alameda is truly an urban oasis.

The neighborhoods offer a diverse variety of beautiful homes, tree-lined streets and tranquil stretches of sandy shoreline. Located in the geographical center of the Bay Area, this area also offers easy commutes to San Francisco and Oakland.
If you’re thinking about relocating to Alameda, now’s a great time to make the move to buy or rent a home. You may be able to save on insurance costs by combining renter’s or homeowner’s insurance with your car insurance.

Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it in this overview of several scenic neighborhoods in the area.

Harbor Bay Isle
A beautifully landscaped, water-oriented community of single family homes and town homes. Developed mainly in the 1980’s and 1990’s, it has notable community features, including marvelous recreational paths adjoining shaded lagoons, waterfront properties with breathtaking views, and direct ferry service to San Francisco.

Bay Farm Island
A drawbridge over the Oakland estuary connects this peninsula to the main island of Alameda. You’ll find quite a few townhome developments built in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Its proximity to Oakland International Airport, Harbor Bay Isle, San Leandro, and freeways enhance its appeal.

Central Alameda
Central Alameda offers an array of housing styles, from Victorians, Colonial Revivals, Queen Anne Cottages and Craftsman Bungalows. The rest of this large area is a collage of smaller, appealing neighborhoods, ranging from older homes and flats, to modern condominiums and apartment buildings.

Gold Coast
The term “Gold Coast” symbolizes the shoreline that once ran along this area’s southern edge before South Shore was developed. The Gold Coast’s first homes (turn-of-the-century Victorian and Edwardian styles) were built by wealthy visitors who wanted second homes near the beach. These magnificent homes highlight scenic, tree-lined streets.

South Shore
These neighborhoods feature 1960’s style homes, as well as apartments and condominiums, some with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. Crown Memorial State Beach, one of few sandy public beaches on the Bay, is a two-and-one-half mile long beach.

West End
With their hardwood floors and wood-framed windows, homes in this area are ideal for first-time buyers. For those with an affinity to be near water, impressive town homes set along deep water docks can be found at Ballena Bay.

Whenever you finally settle into your new digs, whether you rent or own, don’t forget to protect your investment and your personal property with renter’s or homeowner’s insurance.
